See the transformation of our cottage living room.
“Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” Quote attributed to William Morris
When we moved into our little house, built in 1980, it needed a “few” updates to make it feel like home. Over the last 20 years, the room has evolved, but the key pieces—the down couch, the classic chairs, and the wonderfully practical ottoman coffee table—have stayed the same. I chose them many years ago, and they’ve served us so well. I always believe in investing in high-quality pieces for the larger elements of a room. It’s timeless. Then, you can have a little fun by swapping out the smaller décor items whenever you like.
My style is classic & fresh, with a nod to the coastal town we live in. Whether it’s family pieces or pictures, found objects, the details all show a bit of who we are and where we came from, & all are meaningful, beautiful, or useful.
This cottage has become a place that has held us throughout many days, and although it’s small, it’s a place we love to gather our family and friends as often as possible, and hopefully, for many years to come.
